"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
   and break every yoke?"

Isaiah 58:6

THE WORK 4 A LIVING STORY

We launched our first training center in 2007, equipping people with skills to help them find jobs and start businesses. WE FAILED. People quit their jobs, didn’t stay committed, didn’t show up for work, or never even got started. It was a disaster. Then, we began learning about a Biblical Worldview through our church in South Africa.  Watch the full story below.

THE LORD CHALLENGED US ON DISCIPLESHIP.

In response, we established small discipling communities around each W4AL Centre—to disciple new believers who give their hearts to Jesus every three weeks.

These groups become "The Church":

  1. A new church community is created/planted to ‘catch and disciple’ the newborn believers OR

  2. An existing church community partners with the Centre to ‘catch and disciple’ the newborn believers OR

  3. A new church community made up of small small discipleship groups "D-groups" that use Discovery Bible Study (DBS) as a powerful discipleship tool.

Ultimately this creates a family of believers, that gather together regularly.

THE WORK 4 A LIVING MODEL

Our mission: People working & discipled!

We equip ordinary, missional individuals to BUILD BRIDGES TO THE COMMUNITY, teaching the truth of God’s word, teaching excellence in the workplace, providing employment opportunities and facilitating discipleship. As it grows, a W4AL Centre is started.

Each bridge starts as a resource to the community teaching practical skills and ends as the Church.

"WORK 4 A LIVING is a game changer.

W4AL tackles the deep causes behind the issues of poor work ethic, entitled attitudes, apathy towards excellence, lack of common courtesy, and even personal life skills such as poor financial management. Focusing on worldviews and habits that shape us in turn develop the person as a whole, not just their work-place responsibilities."

Community Bridges is also a potential church in the community, that ultimately pays for itself. People give their lives to Jesus during the W4AL programs (over 20 000 new believers so far).

The church needs to be there to catch and disciple  the newborn believers!

River
What does thriving look like?

Ezekiel 47:9-12

"There will be swarms of living things wherever the water of this river flows….

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple.

The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.”
